Frequently Asked Questions

How is manual therapy different from physical therapy?

Manual therapy is a specialized, hands-on approach that treats the root cause of pain through personalized, one-on-one care. Unlike traditional physical therapy, which may be limited by insurance or focus only on the painful area, we take a full-body approach to address how everything works together.

Can manual therapy help athletes and bodybuilders?

Absolutely. Manual therapy is highly effective for athletes and bodybuilders looking to improve performance, prevent injury, and speed up recovery. By addressing muscle imbalances, joint restrictions, and movement patterns, we help your body function at its best. Each session is tailored to your training demands and goals, whether you're dealing with tightness, overuse, or just want to stay ahead of potential issues.

Is manual therapy painful?

While you might feel some temporary pressure or mild discomfort, manual therapy should not be painful. A trained therapist will adjust techniques to your tolerance level and ensure a safe treatment. Some mild soreness or temporary fatigue may occur after a session, similar to post-exercise discomfort, but these are typically short-lived.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions varies significantly based on the severity of your condition, your overall health, and how your body responds to treatment. Your therapist will create a personalized treatment plan and determine the number of sessions needed after an initial evaluation.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are usually 60 minutes, but might vary depending upon your condition and the techniques being performed during your visit. The length of time for treatment is dependent on many factors, such as the type and severity of your physical issue, your compliance with your treatment plan, and your body’s ability to respond.

Do you take insurance?

Elevate is a self-pay service, and payment is due at each treatment. That said, some insurance companies might reimburse for manual therapy as part of a physical therapy plan, but coverage varies significantly depending on your specific plan.
